Don’t Call It A Comeback

What’s up! Long time no see (again). It’s been 84 days since I last posted but as my man LL Cool J said, ‘Don’t call it a comeback, I’ve been here for years’. Anyway, with that out of the way. Happy New Year!

I really don’t have a plan or direction for this post other than the simple fact that I just feel like I have to write something. I suppose there’s been quite a lot happened since my last post. I graduated college which is pretty cool.

I also attended the finals of the Irish Blog Awards because I was up for best music blog which was even cooler. Unfortunately, I didn’t win but just to be there was one of my highlights of 2018 and the absolute highlight of Gilroy’s World as a whole.

I tried Movemeber last year. All I’ll say is that I should not have tried Movember last year. I’ve been cursed with the facial hair growth of a 14 year old. It was for a good cause though so I don’t feel too bad about it.

I also went to Amsterdam for a weekend on my work party. It’s the second year we’ve gone in a row and I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of that city (getting sick IN that city is a story for another day).

Other than those few notable events, the only real other things that happened were Christmas and New Years. With today being technically the last day of Christmas, I think it’s time that I can finally admit it to myself. This was the least Christmassy Christmas that I’ve had in years if not ever. Obviously it was nice because it was Christmas, but it just felt a bit off or something. Probably because I don’t think it dropped below 10 degrees once over Christmas. Thanks global warming.

2019’s been off to an alright start. Although I feel like tomorrow’s the REAL start because I tried to squeeze as much out of Christmas as I possibly could (by this I mean I refused to start eating clean on January 1st).

One thing I did actually start on January 1st was my mission to quit smoking. I picked up a bad habit in 2018 of smoking so I thought I’d best not bring that into 2019 (well, passed the 1st day anyway, I was too hungover to start on New Years Day). I underestimated how tough it would be at the start to go completely cold turkey off them but I’m 5 days in now and it’s extremely easy. Outside the odd craving that is.

I’ve also decide to partake in dry January this year which will be easy because I’m really not entirely pushed on drinking when there’s nothing to celebrate. I do however have a wedding next month where I will be entirely pushed on drinking. I do think that dry January will help me get properly off the cigarettes because my downfall with them is drink. I’m fairly confident I’ll be too far gone by the time the wedding comes up that I’m not going to want to smoke at that stage.

Anyway, that felt like a lot of excess information that nobody asked for but I do want to take more of a lifestyle-y approach to the blog this year. I also think I’m going to start a podcast in the next few months where I can talk even more shit!

Hope everyone’s having a class start to 2019 and for those of you just going back to work tomorrow, I hope you’re not too allergic. As always, thanks for taking the time to give my blog a read. Feel free to keep in touch over on
TwitterFacebook & Instagram and I’ll see you next time!
