Welcome to “My Ears Online” where every Friday I’m going to post about music that I’ve been listening to that week. This is both an attempt to get me to write and post more as it is an opportunity to share my amazing taste in music. Every week I’m going to bring you a few songs both new and old to enlighten your eardrums. Without further ado, let’s get right into it!
This week there’s 2 tracks that I’ve been listening to nonstop. “HUMBLE.” by Kendrick Lamar and “Everybody” by Logic.
Kendrick has everyone on notice about his upcoming untitled 4th album and he’s coming out swinging with this one. His album was originally speculated to drop today (April 7th) but it now appears to be pushed off to the 14th, expect to see Kendrick again next week!
Like Kendrick Lamar, Logic dropped a new song recently to promote his new upcoming album “Everybody” which is releasing May 5th. The song heavily focuses on race as Logic raps about being mixed race with his mother being white and his father black. This is something that you wouldn’t know without listening to Logic’s music as he has white skin. The song focuses on equality with the hook including “Everybody people, everybody bleed, everybody love” Logic is known for his creative, story-driven albums and I’m sure “Everybody” will be no different.
As much as I’m loving the new music that has been released lately, I’m always going to have time for the classics! This week I’ve been listening to a lot of Queen and Wu-Tang Clan (I have a pretty broad taste in music.) Unlike with the new tracks, I won’t be going into much detail about the classics. My simple reasoning for including these songs are because I love them, simple as!
Freddie Mercury was a once in a lifetime performer.
You can’t call yourself a Hip-Hop fan if you don’t appreciate some Wu-Tang!
Thanks for reading and listening! I’m currently working on revamping GilroysWorld so expect more posts and videos soon!
Until Next Time,
