So, I’ve just returned from the midnight premier of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. WOW, WOW is my immediate reaction. Without going into any details here’s my quick review.
When I first heard that Disney had acquired the rights to the Star Wars franchise, I’m not going to lie, I was a bit sceptical. That was, of course until I saw the first trailer for The Force Awakens. From that moment I was pretty sold. A small part of me was still afraid that this movie wasn’t going to live up to the name. J.J. Abrahams took on what I would imagine to be the hardest directing job in Hollywood when he signed up for the new Star Wars movie! In short, he didn’t knock it out of the park, he knocked it out of the damn galaxy
The interaction between characters is fantastic with both new hero’s Finn and Rey along with trusty sidekick droid BB-8. The new hero’s aren’t the only stars here. It wouldn’t quite be Star Wars without a few familiar faces making a return to give the good guys that bit of an extra boost. Many parts of this movie had me laughing audibly and for the major part of the film I found myself with a big stupid grin on my face, shivers down my spine and goosebumps on my arms.
Overall Star Wars: The Force Awakens does its job, feeling both new and familiar at the same time. If this will be your first time seeing a Star Wars movie or your one hundredth time watching one. You most certainly will not be disappointed. The Force Awakens is so much more than just a movie, it’s an experience! The only question I ask myself after seeing this is, can it be 2017 yet?
Star Wars: The Force Awakens gets 9.5/10!
May The Force Be With You,
